As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. A consent form has been signed by both the author and the author's faculty advisor. This form can be downloaded here. If this form is not signed, the submission will not be reviewed.

  3. All submission materials have the the authors' identities removed. If the author(s) is cited, "Author" and year are used in the bibliography and footnotes, instead of author's name, paper title, etc. The author's name has also been removed from the document's Properties, which in Microsoft Word is found in the File menu.
  4. The submission follows all formatting, stylistic, and bibliographic guidelines specified in detail here. These requirements include, but are not limited to: the text is double-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are labeled, captioned, and placed at the end of the document, and are submitted as separate supplementary files.
  5. The manuscript's text is in Microsoft Word format. All equations use LaTeX, Microsoft Equation Editor, or MathType formats. All figures are saved as high-quality image files. Anything not meeting these specifications will be immediately returned to the author.
  6. The submission is not an exact copy of work that has been previously published. Authors are encouraged to use work published in The Tower for later publications in open, refereed journals.
